Shocked and saddened at death of Evha Jannath at Drayton Manor Theme Park

The tragic death of Evha Jannath, 11, from Leicester at Drayton Manor Theme Park on Tuesday 9 May 2017 has shocked and saddened everyone at Jamia Al-Karam.

On the same day, students from Jamia Al-Karam were on recreational trips to Alton Towers and to Drayton Manor. Around 15 minutes prior to the tragic incident, the Vice-Principal, Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari, was himself on the same Splash Canyon rapid ride with his family, and other students were also in the queue behind Evha Jannath awaiting their turn when the ride was immediately closed and emergency services arrived. Immediately, the scene in that area of the park was filled with horror, shock and grief.

We extend our sympathies, condolences and prayers to Evha’s family, friends and loved ones. A day of immense joy was turned into a day of sheer pain and sorrow. The Vice-Principal, Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari, commented: “Words cannot describe this tragedy. Only minutes before, I was on the same ride with my young daughter and sister, and in the vicinity of the ride when tragedy struck. My heart goes out to Evha and her family. This is truly devastating. May Allah grant ease and patience to all affected during this very difficult time.”
